The Challenge
Joey Maguliman is the Senior Manager of Revenue Operations at Tebra, an all-in-one medical software platform that helps independent practices and medical billing companies. In his role, Joey manages Tebra's quota and compensation strategy across its entire go-to-market motion — from setting targets and adjusting comp structures to ensuring commissions are paid accurately and on time.
Before Everstage, Tebra ran its commissions on SPIFF. The platform required RevOps admins to work with what felt like a coding layer, adding complexity to routine tasks and making rep transitions particularly difficult to manage. With multiple teams operating under different compensation requirements and data sources, calculations and reconciliations were a manual, time-intensive exercise.
When issues arose, SPIFF’s support was limited, leaving Joey's team to diagnose and troubleshoot problems on their own. The result was a team spending the bulk of its time on the mechanics of commission processing, with little left over for anything else.
The Solution
When Tebra evaluated Everstage, the contrast was immediate. What had felt complicated suddenly felt intuitive and the implications for the team went well beyond time savings. From the first conversations through implementation, Everstage stood out as a partner that made a genuinely complex problem feel manageable. It is rare that a commission platform is powerful enough for finance yet approachable enough for the whole revenue team.
Intuitive Administration For the Whole Team
Where SPIFF had required specialist knowledge to operate, Everstage was something the broader team could understand and work with directly. The platform’s interface reduced the cognitive overhead of configuration, making it straightforward to implement plan changes, manage transitions, and onboard new team members into the commission process. They could now administer as many comp plans as the business required, with ease.
With less time spent wrestling with platform mechanics, the team could focus on what actually mattered: getting compensation right.
Support That Acts Like a Partner
The difference in support was just as pronounced. Where Tebra had previously been left to troubleshoot on its own, Everstage's team was responsive and hands-on — helping the RevOps function resolve questions quickly instead of losing days to self-diagnosis. That responsiveness turned commission management from a source of friction into a process the team could rely on.
Automation That Led To Increased Scope For Growth
Everstage automated the calculations, reconciliations, and reporting that had previously consumed the team’s bandwidth. By consolidating Tebra’s multi-source data (Workday, Google Sheets, Snowflake, and Salesforce) into a single, structured process, Everstage eliminated the manual effort that had made each payout cycle a labor-intensive undertaking.
With those hours returned, Tebra’s RevOps team was able to do something they hadn’t had capacity for before: expand their scope. The team moved from supporting only sales and account management to taking on commissions, spiffs, and bonus payouts across all of Tebra.
Dashboards That Improved Internal and External Clarity
One of Everstage’s most significant contributions at Tebra has been the visibility it provides to both leadership and to the sales teams. Finance now has a clear, predictable view of commissions and bookings, making internal and external reporting more reliable. And reps have real-time access to their own performance data: their targets, their earnings, and where they stand relative to their peers.
The Results
Payouts Processed Faster Confidently
With Everstage handling the heavy lifting, Tebra’s payout process is now cleaner and more reliable. The team’s existing rigor around accuracy is now backed by a platform that supports rather than hinders that standard. Commissions run with confidence, not caution.
Stronger Reporting for Finance and Leadership
Tebra’s RevOps function sits within finance. The visibility and predictability Everstage provides around commissions and bookings has made it easier to report to both internal leadership and external partners.
A More Engaged Sales Floor
Reps now have visibility into their commissions, targets, and bookings on a month-to-month basis — and can see how they rank against peers. For Tebra’s competitive sales culture, that transparency has driven a noticeable shift in how reps engage with their own performance throughout the month.
Capacity to Build What’s Next
With the operational burden of commission management lifted, Tebra’s RevOps team is no longer just keeping the lights on — they’re building. Joey’s team is now in a position to take on more complex compensation programs, including end-of-year bonus structures for teams that weren’t previously supported. The platform has created capacity for work that was previously out of reach.
What started as a search for a more usable commission tool has become something larger: an infrastructure investment that’s made Tebra’s revenue operations function more strategic, more scalable, and more impactful across the organization. For Tebra, Everstage hasn't just replaced a tool as it has raised the ceiling on what RevOps can contribute to the business.
