Hood Container Corporation, a leading player in the packaging and containers manufacturing industry, faced a significant operational challenge in managing commissions across its expansive and complex sales organization. 

Hood Container currently manages data for each of its plants with their own individual databases. Without a centralized data warehouse, managing the compensation plans is an overwhelming manual process for the team. 

Each plant controller was responsible for processing data for their respective plants, often spending anywhere from two to ten hours per sales rep, depending on data complexity and system errors. James Allison, the Business Analyst overseeing the compensation process, described this Excel-based workflow as highly error-prone and inefficient.

“Our calculation process was incredibly complex, and each cycle involved over 5,000 VLOOKUPS across multiple data tables with calculators. Given that invoices often contain multiple line items, a single calculation could take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour, – just for one rep.
